What is a an Asset?
An asset is the name given to an individual piece of safety equipment, such as a smoke detector or a fire extinguisher. There are many other types of assets that you can add to your forms. Assets commonly added to forms include:
- Smoke Detectors
- Heat Detectors
- Pull Stations
- Exit and Emergency Lights
- Fire Extinguishers
- Control Valves
- Other Fire and Security alarm assets
You can only add assets to forms that are designed to support that specific asset. For example, a new fire extinguisher would need to be added to a Fire Extinguishers form. The following forms currently support the import and export of assets:
- Assets Form
- Fire Alarm Supplementary Form
- Fire Extinguishers Inspection List
- Control Valves Form
- Device Supplement Form
- Security Alarm Assets Form
What is the Import/Export Assets Feature?
The Import/Export Assets feature allows you to easily add new assets to your forms. This feature also allows you to determine the order in which the assets appear on the corresponding inspection forms. An asset will automatically appear on the associated form in the order you have determined to be the most beneficial to your inspectors as they complete the forms at specific locations.
This document describes the basic process you will use when importing assets into your various forms. The process for importing and exporting assets is fundamentally the same for all different types of forms, the main difference being the required column headers for each specific form are different for each type of form.
Common uses for the Import/Export Assets feature include:
- Adding a new asset(s) to an existing form
- Adding a new asset(s) to a form using an existing CSV file. For example, a text file created from a fire alarm panel can be saved as a CSV and then used to populate the required columns for a Fire Alarm Supplementary Form.
- Exporting the CSV file in order to identify the required column headers when importing a new asset into the form.
